Magix Music Maker is an audio editor and beat maker intended for amateur users. This uses a simple drag-and-drop interface along with many loops and effects so that you can create your own songs and recordings. While most of the tools are easy, you will also find tutorials to help you learn everything about this program.

Loops and Sounds

You may not realize this if you are new to audio editing, but loops and the lifeblood of these programs. A loop is a sound that can be played over and over again and sound natural. It can be anything from a guitar chord to the sound of rain or animals. Loops are recordings that you can add into your audio file to create songs, atmosphere or ambience without having to record the sounds yourself.

Loops are great because they make your audio file more complex. You'll find that Magix Music Maker comes with a large number of loops that you can enjoy. There are specifically 425 loops at the moment and there are always new ones being added. There are sound effects, instrumental loops and ambient sounds. Not only that, but you can easily search for the right one from the menu.

Simple Interface

Magix Music Maker has a simple interface that allows users to quickly create and edit songs and other recordings. The majority of your actions will be dragging and dropping sections. For example, you can select a loop and then drag it over to your recording. You can keep the loop as it is, or you can drag it to be longer. Most loops only last a second or two. You can drag the loop so that it lasts for several minutes or longer.

Not only that, but you can create multiple tracks. This allows you to overlap sounds. For example, you can have your voice on one track, a second effect on another and then a loop on a third. Almost every recording, even extremely simple ones, will use at least two tracks. You can add a track by clicking a button and it's easy to go between them.

You'll notice that nearly everything is properly laid out for you with this program. It's made to be accessible and you'll be able to quickly find and use most tools.

Adjusting the Sound

Magix Music Maker is a program for beginners. While it does allow you to adjust the sound to a degree, you shouldn't expect it to be as detailed or intuitive as a professional program. That being said, you can easily change the volume of sound effects or whole layers by using a volume slider. If you want one effect to take the forefront and another to play in the background, then just adjust the volume until it sounds right.

You can also change some other aspects of the sound. While you shouldn't expect professional results, this will be good for beginners who are curious about audio editing and want to see how it's done.

Recording

Magix Music Maker allows you to record your own voice along with instruments. You can use the microphone built into your computer or an external microphone with more professional results. Nearly every microphone should work with this program, so you shouldn't expect any problems when connecting a microphone to your computer.

Recording your instruments can be difficult. While you can use a microphone to do it, this isn't ideal. You will want something that connects directly to the instrument. While this is possible, you'll need to buy additional hardware for it. That being said, you should be able to connect most of this hardware to Magix Music Maker.

Import Audio

If you have an audio file that you want to edit, then you can import it to Magix. Simply select the "Import" feature and then choose the right file for your needs. While you can make some edits to it, such as changing the volume or adding loops, you cannot remove sections unless the file has layers.

Many MP3 files have been compressed and are now a single layer. That means you can only perform basic editing functions. Professional programs are able to split these into layers or specifically edit parts, like removing the vocals or other aspects. This program lacks these features.

MAGIX Music Maker is a piece of software designed to help users develop original music. It can be difficult to find the right piece of software for editing and creating music whether you're a professional looking to further your career and skill or an amateur simply getting a feel for the industry.

If you have any experience with music production, even if you're just a beginner, you've probably heard of many of the most prominent alternatives to MAGIX Music Maker. Those top-tier apps tend to come with top-tier prices, and even professional music producers tend to seek cheaper alternatives unless they're at the highest level of the industry. Producers at that level are few and far between, so MAGIX Music Maker is an excellent budget option for hobbyists or budding pros. This app can operate at nearly the same level as its premium competitors, and it does so without breaking the bank in the process.

The great thing about this software is that it's merely a free trial of the full version of the software, but this free version is designed to be fully functional on its own. Each tool in the software has been streamlined for optimal utility, which in turn boosts the quality of the entire suite. There are a few tools that only come with the paid version, but those tools are reserved for professionals who require more comprehensive functionality. Of course, you can upgrade to the paid version of the software at any time, and there may be instances where it will feel like upgrading is required if you want to get as much out of the software as possible.

There's no denying the power in this music creation software. One of the possible downsides of the software is that the layout appears a bit disorganized at first, but it doesn't take long to find the logic in the layout. If you have any experience with editing video, the experience will feel quite familiar.

The interface for the software is made from one basic workspace surrounded by the toolbars that hold all the most common functions. The workspace is populated by the audio tracks for the current song in a horizontal stack. To make a song, you must decide on the tracks you want to use as a base. Most users will start with a rhythmic base consisting of imported drum beats or pre-composed loops. There are a number of popular genres to choose, and more layers of sound can be added via the six included virtual instruments or your own connected physical instruments.

MAGIX Music Maker makes it easy to customize each included virtual instrument. You can alter the bass, pitch, feedback, size, and many other features of the digital instruments. If you're serious about producing your own music, MAGIX Music Maker is possibly the most cost-effective solution you'll find.

Pros
